Bird Water Dishes

Most of our ceramic, stainless steel, and hard plastic food dishes can also be used as water dishes as well. We never sell plain metal dishes, as they can rust over time and make your bird very ill. We specialize in offering bird water dishes that are spill-proof, rust-proof, and tip-proof.

Many of our water dishes are weighted for easy storage and prevention of spills. Birds can be very messy eaters and drinkers, and some species find it quite entertaining to splash water all around. With our dishes, we can limit the amount of mess and help your bird drink more water than he or she tosses around.

As a rule, you should give your bird fresh water daily. Some experts recommend boiling tap water first, as tap water can contain certain bacteria that can make birds very sick, although they are harmless to humans. Bottled water or spring water is not recommended, as it is often untreated and may still contain harmful bacteria as well. Or, you can buy purified drinking water with no additives or preservatives. Bathing water should also be handled with the same precautions as drinking water.

Your best bet is to boil a gallon of water at a time and store it in the refrigerator to use as needed. If you don't have time to boil the tap water ahead of time, at least let the tap run for 2-3 minutes to flush out bacteria before serving it to your bird.
